Mark D. Jackson is a blockchain protocol architect and named inventor on fourteen U.S. patents spanning derivatives market design and cryptographic authentication systems. He has thirty-four years of professional software and systems engineering experience, including fourteen years in cryptocurrency and eleven years of full-stack blockchain development.
He is available for retention as a testifying or consulting expert in matters involving blockchain protocols, smart contracts, cryptocurrency trading infrastructure, derivatives market design, cryptographic systems, and software patent disputes.
Areas of Expertise
- Blockchain protocol architecture and consensus mechanisms
- Decentralized oracles and price-feed mechanisms; oracle and market manipulation analysis
- Mechanism design and token economics; game-theoretic protocol analysis
- Smart contracts: design, implementation, and failure analysis
- Options and derivatives market design; trading system architecture; market microstructure
- Cryptocurrency trading infrastructure, exchange connectivity, and key management
- Applied cryptography: encryption, authentication, digital signatures, hashing, tamper resistance
- Software patent matters: claim construction support, infringement and invalidity analysis, prior art investigation
- Source code review: Go, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, C/C++, Haskell, Python
- Embedded and distributed Linux systems; regulated gaming system security
Background
Mr. Jackson invented and patented a short-term option trading system in 2004 (U.S. 7,856,395; 8,229,840) and built its first implementation as a real-time derivatives matching engine. He later brought that market design to decentralized infrastructure as Microtick, a price oracle and short-term options marketplace launched as a sovereign blockchain, where he designed the consensus mechanism, built the platform end to end, and operated the network with an independent validator set.
Earlier in his career he designed the embedded operating system and security architecture for real-time video slot machines, and invented the encryption and authentication mechanisms that won regulatory approval across multiple U.S. gaming jurisdictions — work that produced twelve patents as primary inventor and required direct engagement with state gaming regulators and patent counsel.
He has since built cryptocurrency trading and arbitrage infrastructure for an institutional trading firm, and holds Emurgo Academy certifications as a Cardano Developer Professional and Cardano Solutions Architect. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Colorado State University.
Engagement
